Hida-Takayama / 飛騨高山
Sorry that I haven’t written this blog in English for long time.
2 weeks ago I was in Hida-Takayama, a great place on the mountain. The city Takayama stands on the mountain in the middle of Japan. It takes 2.5 hours from Nagoya (4 hours from Osaka) even with express train. But this city is really nice place to visit.
ちょこっと前に載せてましたが、２週間前に飛騨高山に行ってまいりました。高山は岐阜県の山奥にあって、特急電車を使っても名古屋から２時間半、大阪から４時間以上かかる場所にあります。しかしわざわざいく価値のある、なかなか素晴らしい町でした。
The view from the way to Takayama was so beautiful. The train runs through the forest by the river “Hida-gawa”. It took 3.5 hours from Gifu, as I went with local train, but that long time was also good.
高山までの道程というのも美しくて、列車は山の中を抜け、飛騨川沿いをひた走ります。普通列車で行ったせいで岐阜からでも３時間半かかりましたが、それでもとても良い時間でした。
I arrived in Takayama about 18 o’clock and I looked for a hostel, then I went outside to eat something. But what’s amazing was… Shops and restaurants which were opened were only Ramen(noodle)-restaurants, bar and some souvenir shops. It was not so easy to find a restaurants where I can eat dinner.
高山に着いたのは18時頃。宿を探しまわり、ようやく夕飯を食べようと外に出ました。これが驚いたことに、ラーメン屋と飲み屋、一部の土産物屋くらいしか開いてない！ 閉店時間の早いこと早いこと…
Many shops close at early evening, but they open very early morning! There are two morning-market in Takayama, and they open at 6 o’clock. Some other restaurants open also at early morning.
I noticed an amazing thing there: There were really many foreigner at the market. Some were from Europ, and some were from South-America, and so on. I think it’s not easy to come here, as Takayama is so far away from airport. But they come here. That means: Takayama has great chams that many people want to visit her.
ほとんどの店が夕方早く閉まってしまいますが、逆に朝は早い！ 高山には２つメインの朝市があって、開店は朝６時。それ以外の普通の料理屋や店でも、朝早くから開いている店が幾つもありました。
さて、ふとある驚くべきことに気付きました。それは… 外国人がめっちゃ多いこと！ ヨーロッパ圏から来た人、南米から来た人、色々色々ほんとによく来たと思います。空港からはるか遠くにあることを考えても、彼らにとってここに来るのはラクじゃないはずです。そもそも、よく飛騨高山を知ってたなぁという話で。でも、彼らは実際に来ているんです。それって、高山がほんとに何か魅力を持っている、という事ではないでしょうか。遠い道のりでもわざわざ行きたくなってしまう魅力を、この町が持っているというのは、とてもスゴイことだと思います。
You can see many traditional houses at “Hidano-Sato(Hida Village)”. We Japanese can not see them often. It’s of course better that you visit Shirakawa, where you can see real houses in which some family really live.
「飛騨の里」という場所があって、ここでは本物の合掌造りの家が見られます。白川郷のは正真正銘本物ですが、こちらはダム建設のために移設したものだから生活している場所ではありませんが。
それでも、なんというか存在感のある家構えでした。本当に。薄っぺらい木の板で作った家とは根本的に違う、生命感すら感じるような建物で、こうして保存する価値ってのは大きいなぁと思いました。
I recommend you that you come to Hida-Takayama. It’s also valuable to see the sights (streets and houses) in the city. The atmosphere is really different.
最初の写真が町並みですが、町の通りの雰囲気すら独特な飛騨高山、一度来てみることをお勧めします。
