As I have to learn English for some reasons, I try to send this program in 2 languages, English and Japanese. If it works good, I’d like to keep writing in this style. The work will double of it before, but it’s for learning, you know? 🙂

Now we have a clay workshop (“Plastizieren” in German) for 2 weeks. From Monday to Tuesday we made a sphere(ball) from a board of clay in this way:
1. make an upheaval(hill) on one place on the board
2. make the upheaval stronger and stronger
3. keep making untill it gets to the end
It wasn’t said at the biginning that the ball figures out. We made only an upheaval and made it stronger, and the teacher modified it. We worked abourt 5 or 6 hours and the size of balls became about 30 cm in diameter.
And today(Wed) we made a form which they have never known from own balls only with will and without imagination. At the end there were many various forms on the table. Then the teacher and we talked about “what stands here in front of us”.
The main theme of this 2 week workshop is, “Whether the art is important for the future (Ob die Kunst für die Zukunft wichtig ist).” I can image that it will be so heavy… 🙂
Because the teacher is so to say a logical powerful artist, I had a problem. I felt that he forced me, and it was so stressful. But as we could talk with each other, now it’s no more problem. Maybe I can get along with him.
He wants and tries to show us what the art is and that the art is important for us. I can understand it well, or I can understand that he really wants to show us. But maybe this theme is very heavy for the other students, I guess…
He said to me, “This theme is so difficult to understand. But it is also difficult for the students who speaks German.” Yes, now I think so, too.
Ahhhh…. It is not easy to write everything, because I haven’t written English for a long time. But it’s Try & Error, isn’t it?
日本語版 / Japanese
いま粘土造形（Plastizierenといいます）の２週間の授業があって、まず月・火曜では、板状の粘土から球体を作り出しました。手順は以下の通り。
1.板の上の一箇所に、隆起（丘）を作る
2.その隆起をどんどん強めていく
3.終わるまで続ける（←この訳が難しい。ドイツ語でしか言えない内容かも。）
作業開始の時点では、最終的に球体が出来るとは言われず、ただ隆起を作り強くしていき、途中途中で先生が修正していく方法でした。５、６時間かけて、直径約30cmほどの球ができあがりました。
今日（水曜日）は、その球体から「ただ意志によって」「想像することなく」「見たことのない」形を作りだす、ということをやりました。最後にはずいぶん色々な形が机の上に並び、「今この目の前にあるものはなんなんだ？」ということを話し合いました。
この２週間全体でのテーマは「芸術は未来にとって重要なものなのか」となっています。さぁ、こりゃ重い内容になりそうなのが想像できますね。
この先生ってのが、なんというか、論理的でパワフルな芸術家っていうような人なんですね。んなもんで先生とちょっとトラブルがありました。作業が「強制」されている感じがして、それをすごくストレスに感じてしまってですね、ちょっと言い争いみたいにもなりました。でもちゃんと話す機会が持てたおかげで、もう何も問題ありません。だいぶ理解し合えたようなので、うまくやっていけると思います。
この先生は芸術が何であるか、そして芸術は人間にとって大切なものであると伝えようとしているんですが、で私もそれは理解できるし、それを伝えたい気持ちも分かるんですが、他の学生達にはずしりと思いテーマなんじゃないかな、と思います。
「このテーマは難しいと思うけれど、ドイツ語がわかる人にとっても難しいんです。」と先生は言ってました。ええ、僕もそう思います。
この先生はなぜか学生相手に「Sie（丁寧な「あなた」）」を使い、全員を名字で呼んでいて、なんか奇妙な雰囲気です。（普段なら「Du」 そして名前） 「Herr Ota!」って言われて、「あ、そういやオレ太田だった！」みたいな。そもそも全員の名字なんて学生の側が覚えてないから、誰が誰だかよく分かりません（笑）。
