竹製望遠鏡の製作 | Making Bamboo Telescope
仙台市地下鉄東西線・荒井駅に併設されている「せんだい3.11メモリアル交流館」の竹をテーマにした企画展に合わせ、「何か竹を使った工作ワークショップが出来ないか」というご依頼をいただき、仙台市東部・三本塚地区で採集した竹を使って望遠鏡を作ってみました。
I hold a workshop making bamboo telescope using bamboos from Sambonzuka-are in east Sendai. There is a memorial community center of 3.11 disaster, and as they were holing an exhibition about bamboos & culture in east Sendai area, they asked me whether I can make something with bamboos.

ワークショップ用の100均レンズバージョンと、割とまともなレンズを使った2バージョンを製作しました。およそ15倍程度の倍率になっており、見え方は以下の感じ。100均バージョンは周辺視野の流れがすごいですが、中心部は案外まともに見えています。
※100均バージョンは、老眼鏡のレンズ＋ルーペ、もうひとつはカメラ用クローズアップレンズと望遠鏡用アイピースを組み合わせています。
I made 2 versions of telescopes. First one is with cheap lenses which are affordable in ¥100 shop, and second one is with relatively good lenses. These both were set to about 15x. The peripheral vision of cheap version was not good, but not so bad at the center.
*Cheap version lens: Reading glass + Loupe
*HQ version lens: Close up lens for camera + Eye piece for telescope

ちなみに筒の上に付いている白と赤の突起は、3Dプリンターで出力した簡易的なファインダー。望遠鏡は目標物に向けること自体が難しくなりやすいので補助として用意しました。また竹の内側を墨で黒く塗ることで視野のコントラストを少し良くしています。
The small white & red blocks are some kind of finder, which are made by 3D printer. As it’s not easy to set a telescope to what to see, there are useful. And I painted the inside black to make contrast better.
出来上がった望遠鏡、特に上等バージョンは見え味も良く、ワークショプ当日のお月見のほか、荒浜のめぐみキッチンのイベントでも、合間に月やプレアデス星団を眺めるのに活躍していました。
The final product, especially the HQ version, was so nice and clear. It worked well not only at the workshop day, but also at another event to see the moon, and Pleiades, too.
